Week 31-33

Week 31
My sister and her family joined us
here on the island.
They spent their first few days helping us around
En Gedi.
Adam was able to go over the plumbing
(checking to see if it was done properly)
and help finish/ fix a few problems.
The littles were ready to help too, (in 2-5 min intervals :)
they did some sweeping,
 and wiping down walls.
 Week 32
we all needed a break so we all loaded up in the car
and headed to Mobay for the week.

Week 33
Cleaning up at En Gedi.
Trying to set up shelves, and hooks to organize the stuff.
Going through piles from months of construction and figuring out what to keep,
and what to pitch.
I am also trying to move what I can fit in the car and get it
put away.
I also just found out, this week, that the sea container should be getting
delivered next week so I am trying to get the back porch/ garage
as cleaned up and organized as possible because I know things
coming off the sea container may need to be stored in there until we are
moved in, and their place in the house can be found.
Inside, curtains have been hung, some things have been placed
on the walls, tile has been scrubbed, and scrubbed, and scrubbed
to get all the mortar and grout off. And I have attempted to
remove as much concrete dust as possible. Its everywhere.
Over everything. Not Fun.
We are now trying to find a truck and some movers to help
us move the big things from KP to En Gedi.
Lord willing in the next week or 2 we will be fully moved.
Prayers appreciated!

Week 30

So this was supposed to be the last week of work at
En Gedi. Sadly it won't be... maybe next week.
The outside is basically done.

This week a small slab was poured
out the back side of the house.
And finally the cabinets came in.
 The master bath
 the main bathroom
 and the kitchen.
Because it took two days to install the
counters, next week they will need to
install the faucets and get all the pipes
connected.
and I got one of the cribs assembled and
in the nursery.

Prayers appreciated that we can get everything
done this week.
Thanks!

Week29

Many hands make light work. That was my plan for
this week and next week. Pull in as many people as
needed to get all the final projects done.
Door knobs were installed this week
the rest of the doors were installed.
Including the beautiful front door that the
amazing craftsmen at JDV made for us!
closet doors were installed.
The back porch was painted, windows added,
(didn't get a picture of that), and one of the
reserve tanks were pulled on top.
the concrete work was finished on the exterior wall.
and the walls have started to be primed and painted.
If you look in the corner where the walls meet you can see the
change in color from the primer to the paint.

and this week En Gedi got a drive way.
It poured rain about every afternoon.

but even that was a blessing as they saw how water ran in
with the heavy rains so they knew how to slant and form the
drive way to work with the water run off.
Standing at the house looking towards the road.
They even crafted me a few raised flower beds with retaining walls
to hold back the slope of the dirt.
I am excited to get some flowers in there to add some color
other than 'dirt' around here.
One week down. One to go.
All prayers appreciated as we wrap this project up!

Week 28

This was a hard week. I hit a wall mentally with En Gedi, and felt
like I just kept hitting it all week.

It started Monday when I arrived at En Gedi and instead of
finding out the electrical inspector came, I found that the electrican
came ripped out half the outlets (leaving the ones I didn't ask for)
and rendering over the holes. They keep saying it has to be done
this way. I think its foolishness, and am tired of hearing the
excuses and justifications for doing things opposite of what I have asked for
, AND 6 weeks later still no inspector has come.

Now that she has made her hand print, she
likes to go and see if her hand still fits in it :)

Monday I also went to the tile place to pick
up the porch tiles that were supposed to be in
2 weeks ago. When I was told they should be in
this week....and through more questions found out
they were still on a container in port....
I then asked what tiles they had in stock, ready for
me to take with me now, so we could get the porch
finished.
The tile we got is not my favorite, but its what
they had, and the porch got tiled.
Right now thats all I care about.

I started laying out closet shelves design.

The walls around the tubs got tiled
 and the faucets were added
Now we are just waiting for the bathroom counters
The doors started getting holes cut out so
knobs can be added.
One of the things I love about this house is all the natural light
because of all the windows.

That came back to bite me this week, as I
went to install all the brackets for the
curtain rods.
Supports were added to the top of the kitchen
cabinets this week, to hold up the counters that
Lord willing will arrive next week.

 More furniture moved in.

Prep for the drive way has begun
The finishing touches of the exterior wall are just about done.

This week I gave the contractor a list of all the things that
need to be finished up, and a time line of 2 weeks to do it, and
encouraged him to pull in whatever extra help was needed to
get it done.
Prayers appreciated and I have a feeling these next 2 weeks
are going to be chaos.
Prayers also please that the electrical inspector comes and that
En Gedi is passed so we can fix back all the undoing thats been
done.
Thanks
