Week 7

"Boss" Lady yelling out instructions from the car. :)
The chain link fence was added to finish up our perimeter wall.
The belt was poured around the top of the porch. and the footers
were dug out for the garage.
The week and sinking back wall was removed.
built back stronger so it can hold the weight of the roof.
and then the roof was taken off this room so a belt could be poured
around the top.

Lord willing the roofers will be here next week to replace the roof.

Its rained most of the day every day, and these faithful workers are
still going strong. Please be prayerful for them and their hearts, as
they continue to run along side us in this project.

Week 6

This week was short, but felt long. I am so thankful the weekend
is here again.
This week, the footer was dug for an exterior
wall that needs to be replaced.
The columns were poured on the exterior wall.
Neiah getting the guys to 'pose' for a picture she took :)

They tore out the old porch

dug and poured footers, then started building up the new
walls to the porch. Switching the sides the entry of the
porch would be on, and adding a side door that will lead to a
garage that will be added later
They also had to pull off the roof so a cement
'belt' can be added before the roofers come to
put on the new roof.
When they were pulling off the roof, they confirmed
what we already assumed that the wood was rotten,
and would all need to be replaced.
The new septic tank was put in

and the back fill was added.

 And a Praise Report!
This guy came to us as a puny 5lb little squirt,
and is now a bruiser at 9lbs. He was almost able
to double his weight. I am thankful to report the
Dr. said he was completely healthy, and has
started being more generous with his smiles :)
Also, this little guy got to go home with his
grandma today! We have loved our time with him,
and we already miss him, but we are so happy he could
go home.
Please be prayerful for him and his bio family as they
transition, and bond together.
Thanks.

Week 5

This week was spent on the entrance of En Gedi. They
fixed up the outside wall, and poured a new entrance onto
the property.
(Road View)
They got all this ready so the gate could be added at the end of
the week.
(View from the house)
This was the gate I ordered. This was the one I wanted.
Something simple.

This is the gate I got. Not at all like the picture above. Come to find
out thanks to technical errors and the contractor texting me pictures.
The order they showed up on his phone was NOT the same order
they showed up on my phone. So when I told him I like the last one
(My last one pictured 2 pictures above, His last one pictured above)
this is what I got.
Lesson learned. Confirm in person. Don't trust technology to make
big decisions.
No, its not what I was planning on, but I praise God that we have
a gate, and that I can now pull off the road and don't have to leave
the car on the road while I unlock the gate.
The JOC was here with us this week, and Neiah loved showing them
around En Gedi. New 'work' boots were brought down for her,
so she was able to run up and down all the "mountains" on the property.
We were also blessed with the opportunity to pray over the
workers, and to share a lunch with them.
It worked out perfectly as it was Adrian (our contractors)
birthday the same day we brought lunch.

So thankful for another week done and all the progress that was made.

Please be prayerful for Ty Ty, as he has
another court date tomorrow. Please be
prayerful for his Bio family, that they can
meet all the requirements from CDA so that
he can go home and bond properly with them.

Thanks!

Week 4

This week Monday- Tuesday most of use here on the
island were holed up in our homes waiting to see what
the storm would do.
But not our workers, they were at En Gedi working!
I got a text early Monday morning from our contractor
asking me what they should do. I told him " do what he
thought was best."  Wednesday when I arrived at
En Gedi I was amazed at all that had been done.
When I talked to Adrian, that morning, telling him
how impressed I was on all that had gotten done. I had
no expectations of them going into work on the days
almost everyone else was at home waiting to see what
the storm would do. His response "I learned something
from Mr. Chad (Chad Huber was a missionary here with
his family about 5 years ago). One day it was raining
and I didn't come into work for him. He called me and
asked me where I was, and why was I not at work.
When I told him I didn't come in because it was raining,
he told me this: "If you have work, you come to work. If the
boss then sends you home thats fine. But you always come
to work." I never forgot that, and ever since, unless I hear
different I come to work!"
(Chad was CLEARLY a much better 'boss' then I!)
The chain link fence posts were set, and now we
are just waiting until the hardware store gets the
chain link that we are going to put by the part of our
property that takes run off from the road.
The septic pit has been dung
(by hand)
The front gate posts have been poured

The font wall was expanded

The side wall was built up
It has rained most of the week here, making the
grounds at the house VERY muddy. I spent about 15
min. trying to get out of the gate Friday morning (after
arriving at the house to unlock it for the workers) so
I could take Neiah to school. I kept getting stuck
and simply spinning my wheels.
Thankfully the workers showed up, and was able
to stratigically drive my car up in a way that I got
it back on the road.

This little guy continues to do good and grow
daily. We are still working at sleeping at night
instead of all day. But he is a joy, and we continue
to love this time with him.

Week 3

We are falling into a new routine with the addition of Ty Ty.
Neiah is a great big sister.
For the most part Ty Ty is a great baby. He does get his days and
nights switched up at times.... but we are working on correcting that.
This week at En Gedi a lot of block was laid in building up
the perimeter walls.
 The side wall
Part of the front wall
another view of the front wall.
They started digging a hole for the new septic tank.
Its incredible how hard these guys daily work.
this past week the footers were poured on the
back wall.
most of what they were digging through for
the back wall was rock, so it took a long time.
A full length view of the side wall.

We Praise Jesus for all the work that has been accomplished,
and also that He spared us any damage from hurricane Matthew.
We are praying for all those in Haiti being effected by this horrible storm.
