Week 11

This week it didn't look like a lot got done... but it did.
The final few posts on the exterior wall were poured.
Last week they started taking out windows and framing them
back up so the new windows can be put in.
All the front windows and one of the sides of the house were
pulled out and the windows were framed up and ready for the
new windows to be put in.
This week, tile was picked out.... then returned when I
started having to many doubts about my option. And then I was
able to find one (thanks to face time and help from my sister)
that I really like.
Also, Nigel and Ben came over from JDV to figure out the
layout of cabinets (and other wood furniture) that will be
needed at En Gedi.

Week 9

We now have a new Roof!
they started to rough cast the garage/porch addition of the house.
How the house looks from the gate.
(Once again I am SO thankful we decided to extend the roof
to over the garage too. It looks great!)
the front & inside of the garage/ porch rough casted.
most of the columns on the front wall have now been poured.
Walls started to come down inside the house.
the archway/ beam going in between the kitchen and dining room.
the view looking from the living room into the new porch/ garage.
looking out the front door into the porch/ garage.
the wall cut out between the kitchen and living room.
(just one more wall to get rid of!)
Thursday afternoon, we got a call from CDA asking if we could
love on a week old little girl. By Friday afternoon she was able to
come home with us. Prayers appriciated for Petrona (aka Sweetie P)
and her bio family.

Yesterday was family picture day at Church
so Sweetie P got her pictures taken too.

Blessings.

Week 8

Putting the steal in for the garage.
Footers poured on the new garage
and by the end of the week we had a new garage.
cross beam poured so the roofers could frame it.
The roofers came this week, and we had a team come from
JDV to help pull down the ceiling, and other demo.
Ceiling gone, and the back part of the roof removed.
The floor covered with...everything coming down.
The team removing kitchen cabinets, and tile on the walls.
The old back part of the roof removed and the new roof framed.
Friday morning the roof was just about all framed.
We made a last min. change to roof the garage too. The previous
plan was to simply deck it (pour a concrete slab on top for the roof)
so that we could put the black tanks (water storage) on top and
they could then gravity feed down to the house. They were going
to do this because as you can see with the guy standing there, and
the ground elevation, the roof on the garage is really low.
a solution was found for the lowness, and I am so thankful we
made this change. I love the way it looks, and now when
you come in the first thing you won't see is two big black tanks
sitting on the roof. :)
This week felt "Big" so much changed so quickly. I continue
to praise God for all the people he has placed here to run along
side us in this project.

Week 7

"Boss" Lady yelling out instructions from the car. :)
The chain link fence was added to finish up our perimeter wall.
The belt was poured around the top of the porch. and the footers
were dug out for the garage.
The week and sinking back wall was removed.
built back stronger so it can hold the weight of the roof.
and then the roof was taken off this room so a belt could be poured
around the top.

Lord willing the roofers will be here next week to replace the roof.

Its rained most of the day every day, and these faithful workers are
still going strong. Please be prayerful for them and their hearts, as
they continue to run along side us in this project.

Week 6

This week was short, but felt long. I am so thankful the weekend
is here again.
This week, the footer was dug for an exterior
wall that needs to be replaced.
The columns were poured on the exterior wall.
Neiah getting the guys to 'pose' for a picture she took :)

They tore out the old porch

dug and poured footers, then started building up the new
walls to the porch. Switching the sides the entry of the
porch would be on, and adding a side door that will lead to a
garage that will be added later
They also had to pull off the roof so a cement
'belt' can be added before the roofers come to
put on the new roof.
When they were pulling off the roof, they confirmed
what we already assumed that the wood was rotten,
and would all need to be replaced.
The new septic tank was put in

and the back fill was added.

 And a Praise Report!
This guy came to us as a puny 5lb little squirt,
and is now a bruiser at 9lbs. He was almost able
to double his weight. I am thankful to report the
Dr. said he was completely healthy, and has
started being more generous with his smiles :)
Also, this little guy got to go home with his
grandma today! We have loved our time with him,
and we already miss him, but we are so happy he could
go home.
Please be prayerful for him and his bio family as they
transition, and bond together.
Thanks.
